As we celebrate Chip's memory today and tomorrow at the 40-day mark of his death, I am envisioning casual, organic memorial gatherings throughout the weekend. Other than placement of the urns and scattering of his ashes at certain points in time, there is nothing formal planned and there are no other obligations. The weekend gatherings are opportunities to celebrate Chip, honor his memory, and share stories. Several people are planning to speak at each of the gatherings, but others can feel free to jump in and speak as well. All events are casual-dress. For those of you joining us today for Chip's 40-day memorial ceremony at Hagley, here is the updated plan: **1) On the way from Mt. Cuba Center to Hagley Museum and Library, pick up lunch in Greenville (Options: BBC Greenville, BrewHaha, Starbucks). Or, bring a bagged lunch from home. **2) Between 12:15 and 12:30 - Meet at the small group of picnic tables behind the Black Powder Building at Hagley Museum and Library —-Address: 200 Hagley Creek Road, Wilmington, DE —-Park at the main entrance parking lot and walk (about a 1/4 mile) or take the shuttle bus to the black powder building
---Let staff know that you are here for Chip Copeland's memorial service behind the black powder building
**3) about 12:45 (when we are all assembled) - Chip’s 40-day memorial ceremony/placement of biodegradable urn into the Brandywine River
**4) After the memorial ceremony - Lunch (optional) at the picnic tables in the large pavilion with social distancing measures in place
**5) 1:30 to closing (4:00pm) - On your own or in a small group, tour Hagley grounds, museum, etc.
—It takes about 2-3 hours to explore the property
—Shuttle buses will be running every 30 minutes with a limit to 14 per bus due to social distancing measures
**Dinner: All are invited to The Copelands for dinner and a swim at 6:15.
**Optional: After-dinner visit to Breck's Mill for reflective moments next to the water —Address: 101 Stone Block Row, Wilmington, DE
