UPDATE: Chip's 40-Day Memorial Weekend in Wilmington

For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life. ~Albert Einstein Below is the plan for Chip's 40-Day Memorial events, which will include visits to places in Wilmington that were meaningful to him, many chances to share memories, and opportunities to disperse some of his ashes. July 11: Morning
**1) Between 9:00 and 9:30 - Meet at the gazebo next to the pond at Mt. Cuba Nature Center. After you park in the lot, follow the “Service Path” down through the woods, and then follow the signs to the pond

**2) 9:40 to 10:00 - Chip’s 40-day memorial ceremony and placement of biodegradable urn into the pond
**3) 10:00 to 10:30 - Donuts, bagels/cream cheese, water and coffee on the terrace for those who are interested and for those not planning to tour Mt. Cuba Center (Chip and I are pictured on the terrace in this blog post)
**4) 10:15 to 11:30 - Anyone from our group wishing to explore Mt. Cuba will be given a complimentary entrance ticket. Group tours are unavailable at this time due to COVID-19, however people are welcome to explore on their own
July 11: Afternoon
**1) On the way from Mt. Cuba Center to Hagley Museum and Library, pick up lunch in Greenville (Options: BBC Greenville, BrewHaha, Starbucks). Or, bring a bagged lunch from home.
**2) Between 12:15 and 12:30 - Meet at the small group of picnic tables behind the Black Powder Building at Hagley Museum and Library

**3) 12:30 to 12:45 - Chip’s 40-day memorial ceremony/placement of biodegradable urn into the Brandywine River
**4) 12:45 to 1:30 - Lunch at the picnic tables in the large pavilion with social distancing measures in place
**5) 1:30 to closing (4:00pm) - Tour Hagley grounds, museum, etc. —It takes about 2-3 hours to explore the property
—Shuttle buses will be running every 30 minutes with a limit to 14 per bus due to social distancing measures
—TBD: Group tours may be available. I am waiting for more information about advanced reservations for group tours.
July 11 - Evening
**1) 7:45-9:00 - Reflective moments at the waterfall for sunset at Breck’s Mill

**2) TBD: Possible planned get-together afterwards (e.g., Buckley’s, etc.)
July 12: Morning
**1) Between 11:00 and 11:30 - Meet at Chip’s parents’ home. Please text Cindi at (757) 287-5100 to RSVP (kindly requested) or if you need directions
**2) 11:30 to 12:00 - Chip’s 40-day ceremony/scattering of ashes at HoHos
**3) 12:00 to 1:00 - Lunch/water/sodas provided by The Copelands
**4) All are invited by The Copelands to stay after lunch for a swim (BYOT/S - Bring Your Own Towel/Sunscreen)
