Please find below the most recent information about the 40-day ceremony at Mt. Cuba Center the morning of July 11:
Between 9:00 and 9:30 - Arrive to Mt. Cuba Center. Once in the guest parking lot, cars will be directed to continue down a paved service road to the grass overflow parking just above the ponds.
**A golf cart will be available to help assist anyone with mobility limitations in getting around.
9:30-9:40 - Meet at the gazebo near the pond.
9:40-10:00 Memorial service and placement of biodegradable urn in the pond
10:00 - Walk to the terrace behind the main house for coffee, water, donuts, and bagels. If you want to tour the gardens and paths right from the pond, meet at the terrace afterwards to enjoy refreshments after your tour. A golf cart will be available to assist those with mobility limitations to make their way up to the terrace.
10:15-11:30 - Tour Mt. Cuba Center. The house is currently closed except for restrooms, but the gardens and paths are open.
**Because the Center will be open to the public after 10am, it is advisable that people bring a face covering, in case they encounter anyone on the paths or in the gardens. Mt. Cuba Center’s general policy is that people may tour the gardens without masks, unless they are encountering others within fewer than six feet.
11:30 - Depart for Hagley Museum and Library (update about this event to follow). We will be directed back to our vehicles, as needed. Rides can be provided back to vehicles as requested of staff members. Cars will be directed out through an automated back gate upon exiting the grass lot.
**The weather, as of today, looks good, but it will be helpful to have an umbrella in your vehicle in case of a stray shower.
An updated map of Mt. Cuba Center can be found at this link here. It has been updated to show Mt. Cuba Center’s current, one-way circulation pattern. Hard copies of the map will be available to our guests, as needed.
